About Toolspea
Toolspea is a growing library of free, single-purpose utilities that do their work inside your browser tab.
Why we built it
Most everyday tooling jobs — counting words, reformatting JSON, shrinking a screenshot before it goes into a document — are small, occasional and interruptive. The web is full of sites that will do them, and most ask you to upload your file, watch an advert, or create an account first.
Toolspea takes the opposite approach. Each of our 31 tools is one page, does one job, and starts working as soon as you paste something in.
How the tools work
Text, code and calculation tools run as plain JavaScript in your tab. Hashing uses the browser's Web Crypto API. Image tools decode your file into memory and re-encode it with a canvas element.
Because the processing is local, there is no per-user cost for us to meter, which is why there are no usage caps and no paid tier that unlocks bigger files.
What we publish alongside the tools
Every tool page explains what the tool does, how to use it, where it falls short, and answers the questions people commonly ask about it. Our guides go further into the underlying formats and trade-offs.
- Documented limits, so you know when a tool is the wrong choice
- Guides written by the people who maintain the tools
- A dated review stamp on every tool page
