What is PDF Compressor?

PDF Compressor loads a document with an in-browser PDF engine, discards unreferenced objects and metadata, and re-saves the file using compressed cross-reference streams. It is used to bring an oversized export from a design or scanning app down to something you can attach to an email.

How to use it

  1. 1Choose the PDF you want to shrink, or drop it onto the panel.
  2. 2Decide whether to strip document metadata.
  3. 3Wait for the rebuild — large files take a few seconds.
  4. 4Check the saving reported, then download the smaller PDF.

Features

  • Runs entirely on-device with a WebAssembly-free PDF engine
  • Removes unreferenced objects left behind by editors
  • Optional metadata stripping for privacy
  • Reports the exact before and after byte counts

When people use it

Email attachment limits

Most mail servers reject attachments above 20MB. Rebuilding a bloated export usually clears the limit without touching page content.

Confidential documents

Contracts and HR paperwork cannot legally be sent to a third-party compression service. Local processing removes that problem.

Known limits

  • Structural compression cannot re-encode embedded images. A scan-heavy PDF may only shrink slightly.
  • Documents protected with an owner password cannot be rebuilt.
