Is App Icon Generator free?

Yes. App Icon Generator is free, has no usage cap, no watermark and no account. There is no paid tier that produces a better export.

Is my icon or artwork uploaded anywhere?

No. Icon resizing, maskable padding, favicon packing and ZIP building all happen on a canvas inside your browser tab. The image you drop in is decoded in memory and never transmitted to Toolspea or anyone else.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, the whole builder is responsive, though configuring a project and uploading a 1024px icon is more comfortable on a laptop.

What size should my source icon be?

1024×1024 or larger, square, with a little padding around the artwork. Anything smaller than 512 triggers a warning because 512 is the minimum a PWA install prompt looks for.

What is a maskable icon?

An icon drawn so the important content sits inside a circular safe zone covering about 80% of the canvas. Android can then apply a circle, squircle or rounded square mask without clipping your logo.

Is the favicon.ico a real ICO file?

Yes. It is a proper ICO container with embedded 16, 32 and 48 pixel PNG frames, which every current browser and Windows itself understand — not a PNG with the extension changed.

Can I use these icons for an Android app?

The PWA set is for the web. For a launcher icon with adaptive layers and mipmap folders, use the Android WebView App Builder, which generates those from the same upload.
