What is SERP Snippet Preview?

SERP Snippet Preview renders a title, URL and meta description the way a search result displays them, and warns when either field exceeds the width at which results are usually truncated. It is used before publishing to check that the important words survive on both desktop and mobile.

How to use it

  1. 1Enter the title, display URL and description.
  2. 2Read the truncation warnings for each field.
  3. 3Shorten anything flagged, keeping the distinguishing words at the front.
  4. 4Copy the final strings into your CMS.

Features

  • Character and approximate pixel-width checks for title and description
  • Separate desktop and mobile truncation guidance
  • Front-loading advice so key terms survive a cut

When people use it

Pre-publish checks

Titles written in a CMS field look fine until they are rendered in a result. Previewing catches the ones that end mid-word.

Auditing an existing set of pages

Paste each title from a crawl export to find the pages losing their brand suffix or their key term.

Known limits

  • Search engines rewrite titles and descriptions frequently. The preview shows what you supply, not a guaranteed rendering.
